Purpose
What is the Gospel? What do you know about it? How do you feel about it? Do you ever think about the explicit truth and implicit application of it? Do you even care really? Do you tire of its meaning? Are you restless of its unceasing mentions? Is it central in your life? Rather, does your life totally revolve around the Gospel? Does it effect you? Does it function in your daily life? Is the Gospel active or passive to you? Does it satisfy you or bore you? Do you find yourself fully satisfied in the Gospel alone? Think on these things friend, for your very life depends on it. What are you to do with this God man, this Christ Jesus? Your answer will effect your life on this planet and determine your eternal destiny.
So the purpose of this blog is threefold – to reveal the Gospel as what it truly IS and therefore what it SHOULD BE: 1) Central, 2) Functional, and 3) Sufficient. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is THE most important “good news” ever! It’s God’s Gospel (Rom 1:1) and that truth alone supports this blog’s threefold purpose. God is at the center, He is fully functioning, and He alone is sufficient.
The Gospel is fully theological and practical, and I want to present it as both. I want a deeply theological Gospel and I need an extremely practical Gospel. The true Gospel is both. It perfectly enables and applies to all of life; to the daily life of every believer.
My hope and goal in this blog is to live out this theological and practical Gospel, and point the believer to absolutely adore it! I pray that believers will be captivated in and will rest, adore, embrace, and glory in the Gospel. If that happens through this blog then praise God. So my means and end are the same: the Gospel. It alone takes men to itself. So all I can do is labor to point you to Christ and this majestic Gospel. When the true and pure Gospel is preached and revealed, it will become central, functioning, and sufficient to the believer. That is my prayer for myself, my wife, my family, my church, my friends, my enemies, and all who come to this blog.
May God get all of the glory and His name receive all of the praise.
